Since then, Labrador Retrievers became useful as guide dogs for blind people, for deaf or for any other persons with different handicaps. That`s because of their intelligence, discipline and balanced temperament, as well as for their ability to get along with people. Labs are trained as therapy dogs to bring relief to homeless persons and children with disorders of emotional nature.

The army and police have used this breed for their taking refinement to smell criminals, drugs, weapons, bombs and to identify people trapped under rubble produced by earthquakes or other disasters.
